General information about Thailand

The floating market is a famous place for small purchases. You usually arrive there by small boat, which travels through canals.

All the shops are on boats, and you can buy silk clothes and scarves, accessories, pearls and jewellery, wooden home decor, and even food. The precious stone market is also interesting.

Besides the many pearls, the country also has a wide range of diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and aquamarines. The designs of the jewellery you will find in Thailand vary greatly. There are traditional jewellery designs to Western standards, as well as large, colourful, and highly ornate pieces following traditional patterns.

For those who love nuts, a stop at a cashew nut packaging factory is a 'must'.

You will see the cashew plant, the nut on the tree, and the process of extracting the nut from its shell. It's also interesting to see how natural rubber is produced from the 'tear' of a tree trunk.

 

Phuket

Phuket island is famous as a tourist destination. The short flight from Bangkok will bring you to the island and into a different world. The environment is exotic, and during the high tourist season, which coincides with our winter, the temperature is around 30 degrees with no humidity.

The hotel infrastructure is very good all over the island, especially in its famous Patong beach. For those who love nightlife, Thailand has a lot to offer. The bars offering all kinds of entertainment are countless.

Once you have relaxed for many days on the beaches and want a change, try an elephant ride. Don't worry about how to get onto this tall animal. Thais have prepared platforms from which you 'board' the elephant.

Before the elephant welcomes you onto its back, its owners will have made sure to give it a little shower and equip it with a wooden seat that holds two people. At first, you might be a little scared by the height, but then you will relax.

 

Food in Thailand

For those who combine holidays with good food, Thailand is their 'paradise'. In Thailand, there are many types of fruits, some familiar to us such as watermelon, and others completely unknown. You just have to try them and choose your flavours. The country's cuisine is Eastern, but much lighter than our familiar Chinese, and with many varieties. For those who don't want 'flavour surprises', hotels throughout Thailand also offer Western cuisine. The choice is yours.
