Paris is one of the most historic European capitals, a hub for developments and home to many important organisations.

To be able to see all of Paris and visit the city's most important and well-known sights, a mere 3-day trip will not suffice.

To get around the city, the Paris Metro will serve you well, as it is the fastest and most economical way to travel within the city.

Eiffel Tower Paris

The Eiffel Tower, the most famous landmark of Paris, was built in 1889 by engineer Gustave Eiffel, a bust of whom can be seen at the monument's northern pillar. The height of the Eiffel Tower, including its antenna, reaches 325 metres and for many years it was the tallest building in the world.

There are 3 levels you can visit. The first two are accessible by lift, but if you wish, you can climb the 300 stairs to the 1^st level and another 300 to the 2^nd. You can only reach the 3^rd level by lift from any level you desire.

Eiffel Tower tickets

To go up to the 2^nd floor by stairs, the ticket costs 10 euros, while by lift, the ticket costs 16 euros.

To go all the way to the top by lift, the ticket is 25 euros, while if you want to climb to the 2^nd floor on foot and then take the lift to the top, the ticket will cost you 19 euros.

Notre Dame de Paris

Notre Dame de Paris is the Metropolitan Roman Catholic cathedral of Paris and is located in the city centre. It is one of the most beautiful Gothic monuments in the world.

The construction of the church began in 1163 and was completed in the 13^th century.

There is no entrance fee for the Cathedral, but it's good to know that you will not be allowed in if you are carrying more than a small carry-on bag.

Arc de Triomphe in Paris

The Arc de Triomphe, reaching a height of 55 metres, was built as a symbol of the French people's patriotism.

Its construction began in 1806 under the architect Jean Chalgrin and was completed in 1836 by order of King Louis-Philippe I.

It is located in the central Place Charles de Gaulle, where the city's 12 avenues converge, the most important of all being the Champs-Élysées avenue.

At a distance of 2.2 km from the arch, following the Champs-Élysées avenue, is the Place de la Concorde, another very well-known square in Paris.

Pantheon of Paris

The Pantheon in Paris was built in honour of Saint Genevieve, the patron saint of the city. The purpose of its construction was to house the saint's relics.

Currently, the Pantheon contains the remains of distinguished French citizens.

It is located on Saint-Genevieve hill and offers an amazing view of Paris.

The entrance ticket for the Pantheon costs 9 euros, while free entry is offered through the European Heritage Days programme.

Palace of Versailles

To visit the Palace of Versailles, you will naturally need to leave Paris and head 30 km away towards the city of Versailles.

Versailles was initially a small palace until 1660 when King Louis XIV decided to expand it and transform it into the most impressive royal palace in Europe.

The most impressive room in the palace is the Hall of Mirrors, which contains some of the most expensive crystals and mirrors.

One of the most important and impressive parts of the palace is its magnificent gardens, adorned with many fountains and statues.

You can visit the palace daily except Mondays from 09:00 to 18:00. Entrance tickets for the Palace of Versailles cost 18 euros.

Flights to Paris

To travel to the City of Lights, the quickest way is, of course, by air.

Direct flights to Paris operate all year round from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos and Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia.

Paris Thessaloniki Flights

The only airline offering direct flights to Paris is Ryanair.

The Thessaloniki Paris flight takes 3 hours and 10 minutes and lands at Beauvais Airport. Beauvais Airport is located 85 km from the centre of Paris and mainly serves low-cost airlines.

To get from the airport, there are buses that will take you to Porte Maillot station. Porte Maillot is not in the city centre, but directly opposite the bus station, there is a Metro stop from which you can easily transfer to your hotel. The Arc de Triomphe is a short distance from the station.

Athens Paris by air

From Athens to Paris, direct flights are operated by Transavia, Air France and Aegean. Aegean and Air France land at Charles de Gaulle airport, while Transavia at Orly.

Orly airport was Paris' main airport before Charles de Gaulle. It is located 13 km south of Paris. Even today, it is the busiest airport for domestic flights and the 2^nd busiest after Charles de Gaulle in France.

To get from Orly airport to the centre of Paris, the quickest way is by taxi, which will take you about 30 minutes. The fare will cost you at least 30 euros and will vary depending on your hotel's location.

There are also buses that run from Orly airport.

Specifically, line 1 connects the airport with the centre. Also, there are airport buses called Orlybus that will take you to Denfert-Rochereau station.

Charles de Gaulle is the largest airport in France and one of the largest in the world. It is 25 km from the centre of Paris.

To reach your hotel from Charles de Gaulle airport, you can use the Roissybus buses, which will drop you off at Opéra station. From there, you can travel by any means you wish to your hotel. The Opéra Metro station is right next to the bus station. Buses run every 15 minutes.

If you choose to take a taxi from Charles de Gaulle airport to your hotel, it will cost you at least 40 euros.

When to go to Paris

Christmas in Paris is magical. If you want to enjoy Paris at its most beautiful time of year, then December is the ideal month. The city is decorated, dons its festive attire, and awaits you.

You will enjoy the most impressive decorations you have ever seen, both on the streets of Paris and in the department stores. The weather in Paris during the Christmas period ranges from 0^o to 10^o Celsius, and it rarely snows.

If you wish to visit Paris during a less touristy period, choose to go during the summer months when tourism is more limited.

The best seasons are spring and autumn. The weather in Paris is milder then, and you will be able to fully enjoy the City of Lights.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland in Paris is located in the Chessy area, 32 km east of the city, covering an area of 22 square km.

To reach Disneyland, simply take the suburban train, specifically the RER A line, and get off at its terminus, Marne la Vallée Chessy station, which is right in front of the entrance to Disneyland.
