Despite the village's difficult access via the legendary Vradeto Steps, a paved mule track of a thousand steps that was the only route in until the 1970s, it maintained a vibrant community until about a decade ago.

# Dilofo

Built at an altitude of 1,000 metres on the slopes of Mount Tymfi, Dilofo is a small village. With a population of just 29 inhabitants, who are mainly engaged in livestock farming and tourism. Despite its small size, Dilofo has a long history. Dating back to 540 AD, when Slavic raids forced the inhabitants of Pitourna to migrate to the area where the village is now located. Today it is one of the best-preserved villages in Zagori. It features characteristic examples of traditional Zagori architecture, with all buildings constructed from local slate. As a result, the village has been declared a traditional settlement, where only old buildings are renovated or rebuilt.

Walking through the narrow paved streets of the village, you will be enchanted by the beauty of the stone houses and the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Cars are not allowed inside the village, which contributes to its peaceful and authentic atmosphere.

# Megalo Papigko

It is one of the most picturesque and traditional villages in the Zagorochoria region, surrounded by mountains and forests with traditional stone houses, narrow streets, and paved courtyards. The village's architecture retains its authenticity and offers a picturesque backdrop for visitors. # Monodendri

Easily the largest village in the area, there are many cafes, a square, the only ATM for miles, a former monastery, a primary school – whatever you want, Monodendri has it.

A very small village with only a few hotels and just two restaurants. It is known for its close proximity to 6 traditional bridges.

# Mikro Papigko

It is a good starting point if you plan to hike to Drakolimni or even to the mountain peaks.

# Aristi

A charming, medium-sized village notable for its bell tower and church.
