Lefkada Town is located on the northern tip, next to the bridge and the marina. It doesn't have a beach, but it does have a pedestrian street with shops, tavernas serving Lefkadian cuisine, the lagoon with its fish farms, and the Castle of Agia Mavra at the island's entrance.

Nydri, 16 km south of the town, is the most developed resort. From there, daily boat trips depart for Skorpios, Madouri, Meganisi, and the caves of Kefalonia, while behind the settlement, the path to the Dimossari waterfalls begins.

To the south, Vasiliki is a world-renowned spot for windsurfing thanks to the afternoon thermal wind, while to the northwest, Agios Nikitas is the only picturesque traditional fishing village on the west side. The nearest airport is Aktio, just 20 km from the bridge, meaning a thirty-minute drive.

Lefkada Town: for convenience, dining, and as a base for excursions

The town is the best choice if you want to move around the island easily, have access to restaurants and shops, and avoid the high prices of coastal resorts. It doesn't have a sandy beach directly in front of it, but Gira with its windmills is three kilometres away and Kastraki a little further.

Nydri: amenities, boat trips, and lively atmosphere

Nydri has everything within walking distance: a harbour with excursion boats, dozens of tavernas, mini-markets, boat rentals, and small boats. It's ideal for holidays without a car, with the drawback that its beach doesn't compare to the west coast.

Nikiana and Lygia: quiet east coast

Between the town and Nydri, Nikiana and Lygia offer pebble beaches with crystal-clear, calm waters, fish tavernas, and significantly fewer crowds. It's the most balanced base for couples and families who want peace without isolation.

Agios Nikitas and the west coast: for the great beaches
