In summer, if you book approximately 2 to 3 months in advance, you can find Athens to Santorini Ryanair flight prices from 80€ per person – a price significantly lower than what competitors offer.

Bear in mind that the Athens – Santorini route is one of the highest in demand and flights to Santorini are among the most expensive domestic flights – and here the rule applies: the sooner, the cheaper!

Ryanair flights to Paris

With the low-cost airline Ryanair, you will also find very cheap flights to Paris, both from Athens and Thessaloniki.

Prices during the off-season start from just 40€ per person for a one-way trip.

Don't forget that Ryanair doesn't fly to Paris's main airport, but to its second, regional one!

Ryanair has a hub-base at Spata International Airport in Athens. By stationing aircraft there, it facilitates its routes, as many of them start from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. This gives particular weight and priority to routes from this specific airport.

Ryanair Prices

Ryanair's prices are particularly low. This is its trademark, which has made it such a popular airline. Prices start from just 4.95€ (e.g., Athens-Mykonos route). An average price for the Athens-Thessaloniki route is 24.99€ if booked 2 weeks in advance and those days are not holidays. You can even find prices at 9.90€ for this route, provided you book your Ryanair flights approximately 1 month in advance – and, of course, again, not during holidays.

Especially on routes where both Aegean Airlines and Ryanair operate, the latter will most often have better prices than Aegean!

It's always a good idea to check prices across all airlines through Travelo to get a clear picture of the flights you want to book.

Ryanair Luggage

For every Ryanair trip, you are entitled to one piece of hand luggage up to 10kg (read below for the new directive from 01/11/2018) as well as a small bag (personal handbag, laptop bag, camera bag - but only one).

Additional luggage or luggage larger than the permitted dimensions will be charged 50€ at the airport counters or during boarding.

If you want to have a larger suitcase for your trip, pre-pay the cost online when issuing your ticket, as this will be much more economical (approximately 25€ for short flights).

Finally, don't forget what is allowed on the plane and what isn't. Different items are permitted in your hand luggage and others in the checked luggage you surrender at check-in. Especially for liquids, security regulations are particularly strict and apply to all airlines!

As of January 2018, a new regulation applies to Ryanair hand luggage. If you book a Standard ticket, you are entitled to hand luggage up to 10kg and one personal item, but you will have to hand over the hand luggage before boarding at the gate, it will be transferred to the aircraft's hold, and then you will collect it from the baggage carousel at the destination airport. If you book a Flexi/Flexi Plus ticket, you can keep your hand luggage with you on the plane. In any case, there is no extra charge!

From 01/11/2018, Ryanair is changing its hand luggage policy! Now, if you book a standard ticket, you are only entitled to 1 personal item – while hand luggage is charged extra! The best thing to do is to pre-pay for your hand luggage when you book your flights, or simply add priority boarding so that you can have your hand luggage on the plane for free.

Check-in process

Check-in is quick and easy, either through the company's website or via the app available for iOS and Android. After checking in, you can print your boarding pass or save it to your mobile. You then present this during the check-in process at your departure airport!

Latin characters on tickets

It is always advisable to enter your details in English when making a booking. This way, you will never have a problem with domestic flights (for international flights, you will NOT be able to travel if the details on the flight ticket are in Greek).

Is it safe?

Ryanair is the safest airline – or, if you prefer, one of the safest. It was founded in 1985, and its aircraft have an average age of 8.5 years. It has no accidents in its history.

Ryanair, in order to increase its profits, offers extra services such as car hire, hotels, airport transfers to the city centre, etc. However, most of the time these additional services are quite a lot more expensive than if you booked them yourself!
