Ioannina Airport "King Pyrrhus" is located 5 km from the city centre and serves all of western Greece throughout the year. Several flights operate daily with high frequency, boasting more than 2 flights on the Ioannina-Athens route. The airport has been operating since 1932, and it wasn't until 2007 that it received its current name. It is located at an altitude of 476m above sea level.
From 5 June 2017, there will be a connection to Copenhagen, with a charter flight by Danish air transport.
From a record high of 175,000 passengers in 2000, 2016 closed with 97,745 passengers, marking a 13% increase from 2015. Airport handling is managed by Olympic Air.
The Thessaloniki-Ioannina route is not directly available but this journey can be made via Athens.
